Palmetto St. Augustine grass sod is the most sold proprietary turfgrass variety in the world with almost 3 billion square feet sold since 1994. This versatile semi-dwarf St. Augustine was released to the market due to its improved shade tolerance and cold hardiness. Since that time, it has become the standard for St. Augustine grasses in the United States and internationally, from Africa to Australia. Palmetto St. Augustine grass sod grows under a wide range of soil conditions making it the ideal choice for residential and commercial applications. Palmetto St. Augustine is an ideal grass for sun or shade, needing approximately 3-4 hours of direct sunlight per day and slightly more if getting only filtered sunlight. It has very good drought resistance and will hold its green color in times of water scarcity for longer than other grass varieties like zoysia and bermuda grass. Measuring Your Area Measure the area that you plan to cover in square feet. This is done by multiplying the length and width of the area. For irregularly shaped areas, break them down into smaller rectangles or triangles, calculate the area for each, and then sum them up. Once you have the total square footage, you can order the appropriate amount of Palmetto St. Augustine grass sod, considering a little extra for cuts and adjustments. Pallet sizes generally range from 400–700 sq. ft., influenced by shipping requirements. Use our area calculator tool to measure the square footage of your area:
