*Optional: Pre-mix the Soil Moist Granules with water in a bucket to use as a root dip optionally. To do this, pour the desired amount of dry Soil Moist Granules into a bucket or container, add water, and mix. Dip the roots of your grass plugs or plant into the mixture prior to planting.
For Turf/Sodding: Use Soil Moist Granules at a rate of six lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. or 300 lbs. per acre if worked into the soil at a five to six inches. Use four to five pounds per 1000 sq. ft. (175–225 lbs. per acre) if worked into the soil at three to four inches. We recommend five pounds per 1,000 sq. ft. at depth of four inches for sandy soils. Broadcast the polymer with a spreader or drop seeder for even disbursement. Work into the soil, spread seed or lay sod, roll and soak thoroughly. If applying grass seed, you may want to use SOIL MOIST SEED COAT.
For Other Established Plants: Make holes in the soil with a pencil or similar object and be careful not to damage the roots of the plant if already planted. Add the required amount of Soil Moist following the application instructions on the back of the package. Then water liberally so the granules can absorb the water.
For Turf/Sodding:
Great product
I had never used this product but it was excellent for maintaining moisture for the new grass I planted.
Saver
Not worth the money, for such a small bag
Revitalized lawn
Our lawn is filling in nicely. Advise researching how to properly place the sod plugs and the care needed for growth. The sod plugs were planted about 4 weeks ago and all have started to slowly begin growing.
Innovation zoysia purchase
So i ordered 2x flats of plugs already. I live on long island, ny so it's clay and sand. pretty crappy and very compact. I did get the auger bit and the soil moist things from the sod solution site (I did try to find then cheaper but it was pretty much the same price). I planted those plugs probably about a month ago and I mowed low. And popped the innovation zoysia in. It says to water the plugs a bunch of times a day, but who the hell had time for that when you're working full time. My point is all the plugs now have at least 4 shoots expanding them outward each so with that said: #1 it's harsh dirt, #2 i haven't been watering as recommended (only 1x per day and i flood it), and #3 i didn't remove any of the surrounding grass or weeds. So the grass is super aggressive (most zoysia are)(my parents house had a regular kind i don't know the breed of zoysia) ,but these plugs with not the greatest conditions are out competing the surrounding dandelion weeds and clover so I'd say its def a highly gentically improved zoysia. Now of the 144 plugs 4 don't look like they will make it BUT that's my fault I over-did the miracle grow dose on them by accident the can tipped over and MG granules were all over them and I'm pretty sure I burnt the roots i did try saturate the area with water to wash it away but im thinking I've lost those 4. I've now ordered another 3 flats to canvas the front yard now (that's full of clover, dandelion, some micro yellow flowering weed, fescue (i hate those balls of grass) and I'll let the zoysia go crazy. But 2 thumbs up for sure
Sod Solutions - A Trusted Source For High Quality & Great Performing Sod & Plug Grass
I am very pleased with the products I received from Sod Solutions to help re-establish a sturdy, attractive small lawn in my backyard. I ordered Innovation zoysia grass plugs, an auger for installation, and a starter pack of nutrients to help the soil retain moisture and to feed the grass as it establishes itself and grows. The plugs and other items arrived on time; the plugs were healthy and of a good size; and everything was easy to plant with Sod Solutions’ clear and easy-to-follow instructions for best outcomes. I planted in the spring, and I hope to see considerable growth and fill-in by the late fall. My only small “complaint” is that shipping was pricey, and I ordered in two batches because I needed an additional tray of plugs to fill in my yard. The products, customer service, and quality are beyond excellent; and, I fully expect equally excellent outcomes as my grass plugs grow and spread out in my yard. I took a chance on Sod Solutions - had not heard of it before - and, I pleasantly found it to be “the real deal” - farm that takes grass growing under many different and varying conditions and the quality of their products quite seriously.
Empire Zoysia
I ordered the drill bit with the plugs and I am not sure if it was intentional, but the plugs came with a drill bit inside the box and I also received a separate box with an additional drill bit. Upon arrival the drill bit that was in the box with the plugs caused the top tray to toss around all the plugs in the box. Considering I planted the day they arrived, I lost about 5 or 6 of those due to shipment damage. For two trays of plugs and spending around $175, I would appreciate a little more care in the shipment and ordering process.
Sod Solution plugs
I am very pleased with the plugs purchased. 100% of the plugs survived and are thriving. Definitely follow instructions. Use a good potting mix at the bottom of the drill hole to give poor soil some assistance.
Ist time, still learning
I ordered 144 sod plugs and planted them in two different days, Also purchased the soil moist, planting tool, and fertilizer kit. Tool worked great. Plugs came in good condition. So far the growth process does not seem to match the printed instructions. At this point all of the plantings are 30 days complete and I see no evidence of starting to spread. I have lost 3-4 plants based on my observation of color and apparent signs of growth beginning. I have watered more than recommended because I am in Arizona and temps have mostly been above average. I shared early progress with the company and did get a response that I was probably doing the right thing to exceed normal water recommendations.
Sod Plugs: Not as Easy as it Looks
Plugs were intertwined and enrooted in one another making it exceedingly arduous to free them up. Laying sod might be easier.
