How to Use Bifen XTS and Bifen L/P for Insect Control

Bifen Xts And Bifen Lp For Insect Control

Every homeowner and lawn care nut strives to have the healthiest and most alluring lawn on the block. Unfortunately, it’s the healthiest of lawns that create the perfect environment for insects and pests looking to feed on your “banquet” of green grass. Over time, some of these insects can create significant (and costly) damage to your once beautiful landscape.

Having the proper arsenal of insect control to fight back against invasions and infestations will really serve to help prevent and fight off pesky intruders. Bifen XTS Liquid Insecticide and Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules serve as great tools to control the most common of lawn insects. Read below to learn more.

Bifen XTS and Bifen L/P Product Overview

Bifen XTS Liquid Insecticide and Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules both have one thing in common—they are used to control the most common insects with the active ingredient, Bifenthrin. Each product has a different percentage makeup of Bifenthrin with Bifen XTS using 25.1 percent of Bifenthrin and Bifen L/P using 0.2 percent Bifenthrin.

Bifenthrin L/P Insecticide Granules is delivered in a 25 pound bag of granular insecticide whereas Bifen XTS is slightly more expensive and delivered in a single quart or gallon bottle as a liquid insecticide. Bifen XTS is also an oil-based insect control product. Bifenthrin is effective and treats insects by shutting down their nervous systems and paralyzing them, which in turn kills them fairly quickly.

The chemical Bifenthrin can prevent and control a number of insects and pests depending on the concentration. For example, the amount of Bifenthrin found in Bifen XTS may not be necessary for some of the insects you are experiencing. This may make Bifen L/P a better fit.

Bifen XTS controls over 70 types of bugs, insects and other pests. Bifen L/P, on the other hand, is labeled to control common insects like ants, chinch bugsfleasmole cricketsticksarmywormssod webworms and billbugs. How to Use Bifen XTS

Bifen XTS is an oil-based formula with water resistant, long lasting residual control that lasts for up to 90 days. With that being said, you will not need to apply this product often. This product was designed as a professional grade concentrated termiticide and insecticide that also controls over 70 types of bugs, insects and other pests.

As a liquid insecticide, Bifen XTS needs to be mixed in a spray tank. A single quart bottle will cover between 106,000–458,000 sq. ft. The application rate will vary depending on the type of insect you are trying to control, but it is typically between 0.07–0.30 fl. oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. as stated on the product label.

How to Use Bifen L/P Insecticide Granules

As a professional granular insect control product, Bifen L/P should be applied with the use of a broadcast spreader to your lawn, flower garden, flower bed, along perimeters and foundations of homes and other structures, around mulch beds and along fence lines, decks and around decking areas.

A 25 pound bag will treat between 5,000–17,000 sq .ft and protects areas of application for two to three months. This can be safely applied without harming other animals like birds, pests and other mammals. The application rate inside of your broadcast spreader will depend on the type of insect you are trying to control, but it is typically between 1.15–4.6 pounds per 1,000 sq. ft. as stated on the product label.

Be sure to walk backwards as you apply this so that you don’t walk through the Bifenthrin that’s in your yard.

The active ingredient, Bifenthrin, that is found in both the Bifen XTSand Bifen L/P products are commonly used in lawns and gardens or other residential and commercial outdoor landscapes. Be sure to read the product labels thoroughly before application.
