In late August, about 20 Texas Celebration Bermudagrass producers gathered for a growers meeting in downtown Houston.  Growers representing about 70% of the state’s Celebration production were on hand to hear the marketing strategies currently being employed; an update on production acres, average selling price and sq. ft. sold; and details on some of next year’s marketing plans.

Also presented were awards for the highest quality ratings in the state. The Brazos farm for King Ranch, located in Navasota, TX, was recognized for the 1-50 acres farm category; Wittig Grass Farms, located in Boling, TX, was recognized for the 51 – 99 acre farm category; and Horizon Turf Grass in Wharton, TX, was recognized for the 100+ acre farm category.

Part of next year’s Texas Celebration marketing plan is a spring radio campaign in Houston that will drive consumers to purchase from licensed producers, authorized distributors and preferred installers.
