02 Aug ACC Sports Turf Managers Conference
In June, our team at Sod Solutions attended the ACC Sports Turf Managers meetings in Atlanta held at Georgia Tech. Showcased on the field at Bobby Dodd Stadium was the newly installed Latitude 36 Bermudagrass. With Latitude’s cold tolerance, they are hoping to overseed very little in the fall because the grass can hold onto its color for an extended period past other bermudagrass varieties. Duke managers at the conference were able to relate how their Latitude 36 did after one year on the ground in the football stadium Wallace Wade.
Because of its ability to handle cold, it is becoming a popular choice in the transition zone where dormancy for warm season grasses can set in quickly in the fall following a cold snap. To the guys with fields being showcased on TV weekly, having a grass that keeps its color longer is a big deal. Of course, that is just one of the many attributes of Latitude 36.
The get together is a great chance for these guys to swap stories and learn from each other. It, like the SEC’s meetings, is a must-attend for sports turf guys in the conference.
